Staff at The Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh go the extra mile to raise money for Maggie’s

Staff at the five star hotel in Scotland’s capital host a fantastic ladies lunch and a member of staff launches a nine-day cycle from John O’Groats to Lands End.

The Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa in Edinburgh’s fundraising for Maggie’s kicked off in spectacular style in February this year.

The hotel helped to raise an incredible £23,000 for Maggie’s Edinburgh. The lunch was attended by 330 ladies from all over Scotland and featured speeches from Barbara Turner who has benefited from the support offered at Maggie’s Edinburgh and Maggie’s Patron Janet Ellis. The lunch was hosted by comedian Fred MacAulay.

Sue Finlay, Director of Sales and Marketing at The Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa said: “The day was a huge success and I would like to thank everyone who contributed.”

“The positive feedback from the ladies who attended has been overwhelming, with many asking if we will be running the event again next year. Our intention is to run the event again in 2012 with a view to making it an annual event.”

Marion Taylor, Community Fundraiser at Maggie’s Edinburgh, agreed “A fabulous day was had by all and that is reflected in the fantastic sum of money raised for the centre. The Sheraton Grand team are wonderful supporters of Maggie’s Edinburgh and I can’t thank them enough for putting on such an enjoyable and worthwhile event.”

Now, Jane Henry, Sales Co-ordinator at The Sheraton Grand Hotel and Spa, is setting off on a 1,024 mile cycle from John O’Groats to Lands End. Jane hopes to complete her ‘JOGLE’ in just nine days, requiring her to cover over 100 miles a day. You can sponsor Jane on her JustGiving page.

The support of the team from The Sheraton will help fund the running costs of Maggie’s Edinburgh and provide free-of-charge access to practical and emotional support from cancer professionals for anybody affected by cancer.
