Participants at the Maggie's Glasgow night hike
A volunteer at the Maggie's Glasgow Night hike

“I believe I would volunteer again although I am tempted to participate... It was fantastic working on the event from behind the scenes. I thoroughly enjoyed encouraging the walkers to keep going, many of them were tired by the time they got to me so motivating them was essential at that point.”

Night Hike Volunteer

Volunteer at the Glasgow Night Hike

Do something different on a Friday night and help support our fabulous Night Hikers!

Volunteers are an integral and hugely important part of the Glasgow Night Hike and we rely on the support of many fantastic volunteers during the event. Last year we had over 60 amazing volunteers ensuring the event ran smoothly and supporting all the Night Hikers to complete their late-night challenge for people affected by cancer.

What will volunteers do?

Volunteers will be allocated to one of the many partner buildings that the Night Hikers will be visiting along the route. Volunteer roles include:

* setting up and branding the building

* setting up and distributing refreshments

* directing and marshalling Night Hikers

* cheering and giving encouragement to the Night Hikers as they arrive and leave each building

* helping to tidy up the building

Volunteer roles start from midday on Friday 7 September and, depending on which building you are helping at, could finish as late as 1am on Saturday 8 September. You can volunteer all night or for as little or as long as you would like.

If you would like to volunteer or would like more information please email rachel.deuchar@maggiescentres.org or call Rachel on 0141 225 0064.
